The joy of traveling is in the unexpected.  On the last day of our trip, Jay and I took a detour and discovered Moundville, Alabama -- home of the second largest US archaeological site of 11th century Native American Mounds.

Jay and I are traveling the next few days through Georgia and Alabama.  It's my first trip to the South and although spring is a tough a time to leave the garden, I jumped at the chance to join him on a research trip for his book on the Civil War.
